International Environment Exchange & Cooperation

K-eco engages in continuous and various environment exchange & collaboration activities with countries around the world so as to disseminate the excellence of Korea’s environmental policy and to live up to its duty as the planet earth keeper.

Seoul Initiative(SI) Secretariat
  • Operate executive office of the Seoul Initiative Network on Green Growth (SINGG) and execute pilot projects: SI policy forum was held 18 times from 2006 to 2023. For SI pilot program totally 21 countries participated and 44 businesses are being implemented from 2006.
  • At the 5th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and Pacific (MCED-5) jointly held by the Ministry of Environment and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Seoul in March 2005, the “Seoul Initiative on Green Growth” was declared as a part of the regional implementation program. The forum is held for information sharing and exchange activities aiming at the economic growth of the Asia and Pacific Region and environmental sustainability in the serious situation of environmental pressure due to poverty and growth of the region.

Global Net Zero Partnership (K-GNP)

Background
  • Emergence of Net-zero by 2050 as a global agenda and declaration of key nations to become Net-zero societies after the Paris Agreement and the UN Climate Summit (Sep. 2019)
  • Strengthening the capacity to jointly plan for the Net-zero and establishing a bridgehead for the expansion of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in environmental sector by policy and technology exchanges from establishing network with various international environmental cooperation agencies.
  • - Promoting and spreading Korean policies & technologies in international societies by expanding international cooperation network with key Middle to Upper Income Countries.

Joint Environmental Research Project
  • Expansion of global network through hosting and supporting joint research projects and international events
  • The environmental problem is not an issue unique to one country. K-eco resolves international environmental problems through joint environmental research projects among countries, and expands the outstanding research results through continuous exchanges of environmental technology with China, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Turkey, etc. 
Contents: Setting the topic of the joint research project between the two countries every year on an annual basis and conducting joint research(Background: Carried forward from 2007 for resolving international environmental problems and mutual technology exchange and enhancement related to the environment, and expanded to various countries) -> Result The research, analysis and result report of the two institutions on the plan and measures for environmental improvement
